PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – North Florida men’s golf was led by redshirt sophomore Filippo Serra to open with the first round of The Hayt on Saturday afternoon.
Serra scored four birdies over the first 18 holes, including one on his first hole of the tournament, to score 2-under 70 to put him inside the top 10 on the player’s leaderboard. The Ospreys finished the day with 52 pars and 13 birdies total, as Serra led all UNF players with his four birdies along with Brett Schell and Danny Erickson with three birdies.

ROUND REFLECTIONS
- Serra birdied the first hole and a pair of par-five holes to help him to his 2-under score and top-10 start.
- Duff caught his footing on the back nine with a birdie and six of his last eight holes being par to sit at 2-over.
- The redshirt senior is tied for second in the tournament for total pars with 14 in his opening round.
- Erickson went back-to-back birdies to close out the front nine, as well as a birdie on the 18th hole to be right behind at 3-over.
- Schell follows with a trio of birdies as well with a 4-over score just outside the top 50.
- Vermut went 1-under through his final five holes of the day to round out Saturday for the Ospreys.
- Ross had a fantastic showing scoring even-par unattached with three birdies over a span of four holes.
- Carroll also competed unattached from the team score with a birdie on the 17th hole.
- Serra also has a top four average par-four score at 1-under, while Carroll has a top five average par-three score at even-par.
