COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican Panthers women’s golf team hosted their annual Spring event – the NC4K Classic on Monday (April 7) and Tuesday (April 8). Due to the cold weather on Tuesday, up to 27 holes were completed on Monday with the remainder of the second round coming on Tuesday.
Of the 16 teams competing in the home event at Pinnacle Golf Course, Ohio Dominican managed a fifth place finish with a 36-hole total of 640. The Panthers shot 325 in round one and ended with a 315 in round two. The 315 was the fifth lowest round of the season for the team.
Panthers Results
- Caroline Tragesser: Tied for 15th place with a final total of 158 (+14) with identical rounds of 7-over 79
- Turned in 22 pars in the tournament (led team and T-6th among all players)
- Ellyn Deibel & Maria Briceno Vargas: Both shot 160 (+16) in 25th place
- Deibel scored 83 and a 5-over 77 on her scorecards – led ODU with three birdies
- Briceno shot 9-over 81 and 7-over 79 for the event
- Sydney Devore: Finished in a 29th place tie as she totaled 162 (+18) over 36 holes; started with an 82 with an 8-over 80
- Marissa Cline & Meg Saffell: Tied for 50th place with each scoring 171 (+27)
- Cline began the tournament with an 87 before an 84 in round two
- Saffell’s best round was an 85 in the first round with an 86 in the second round – her total was her lowest 36-hole total of the season
- Brooklyn Numbers & Alana Miller: Competed as individuals for the Panthers – shooting 172 (+28)
- Numbers tallied two rounds of 86 in the tournament, tying her season and career-low for 36 holes
- Miller shot 9-over 81 in the first round with 91 in the final round; her 81 tied a season and career-low for single round
The Panthers will prepare for the G-MAC Championships with an appearance at the Walsh Cav Classic next week in Canton, Ohio.
