ALEXANDRIA

β€” Ellie Sticha shot under par for the first time in her varsity career on Saturday at Geneva Golf Club in Alexandria, as she shot 1-under par to finish in first place as the Alexandria girls golf team won the Geneva Invite team title with a score of 331 (43-over par).

β€œI had a good feeling after the team played the Ponds nine on Thursday in practice,” Alexandria head coach Tim Zupfer said. β€œThey were learning some course management skills, and started to show some improvement in their short games. I believe that the practice round put them in a good position for success.”

Sticha carded four birdies and 14 pars in her round to finish with a 71.

β€œEllie had a special round breaking par for the first time in high school competition,” Zupfer said.

Cadence Simon joined Sticha in the top 10 with a tied for seventh place finish (83, 11-over par).

Simon had a birdie and seven pars in her round.
