The Scottie girls golf team finished in sixth place at the State Golf Meet held May 13 & 14 in Shelby. Glasgow shot a combined +286. Florence-Carlton won the meet at +184 followed by Shelby, +228; Lone Peak, +230; Anaconda, +240, and Three Forks, +263. Glasgow finished ahead of Red Lodge, +287; Malta, +301; Roundup, +318; Loyola Sacred Heart, +319; Fairfield, + 345, and Shepherd, +417.
Mia Peterson led the Glasgow girls on both days of the tournament. She shot a 98, +26, May 13. She connected for a 50 out and dropped two strokes to a 48 in with three par holes and five bogeys. Peterson dropped two strokes from the first day to finish with a 96, +24, on Wednesday after shooting a 48 out and in. She had two par holes and nine bogeys.
Laynee Simpson shot a 105, +33, on day one with one par and 10 bogeys. She hit a 53 out and a 52 in. On day two, Simpson shot a 110. +38, with a 58 out. She dropped six strokes in for a 52 and had one par and six bogeys on the day.
Annika Smith shot a 57 out on day one, dropping six strokes in for a 51 and a 108, +36. She notched one par and six bogeys on day one with nine bogeys on day two. Smith shot a 54 out and a 51 in Wednesday for a 105, +33.
Aspen Probert had a 59 out and a 58 in on day one for a 117, +45, with one par and three bogeys. She had two pars and one bogey on day two while golfing a 123, +51, with a 58 out and a 65 in.
Dylon Fisher-Murch shot a 65 on the front and a 63 on the back nine on day one for a 128, +56. On day two, she shot one bogey while scoring a 61 out and a 78 in for a 139, +67.
On the boys side, Coy Nelson tied for 46th place. He connected for an 88 on day one with a 46 out and a 42 in. He had six pars and eight bogeys. On day two, he shot a 91 with a 44 on the front and a 47 on the back nine with a birdie, four par and eight bogeys.
Head Coach Todd Truscott loses seniors Laynee Simpson, Coy Nelson and Noah Runner but looks to return a number of experienced underclassmen to his roster next season while adding golfers from Glasgow Middle School to an ever-growing high school roster.
