Golf roundup: Alex boys nearly tie program record on day one of CLC Championship, lead meet by 8 strokes – Alexandria Echo Press

The Alexandria boys golf team had one of its best rounds in program history on Wednesday at the Territory Golf Club in St. Cloud.

Alexandria’s top four combined for a score of 286, finishing just one stroke shy of tying the program’s single round record.

With its round of 286 (2-under), Alexandria is in the lead for the Central Lakes Conference team title.

Top three finishes by Carver Larson, Weston Nyberg, and Blake Scholl on Wednesday have the Cardinals eight strokes ahead of the Detroit Lakes Lakers after day one of the 2025 Central Lakes Conference Championship.

Larson shot 3-under par (69) on May 21, 2025, and sits atop the individual leaderboard. Larson started his round on the par 5 9th hole (502 yards), which he eagled. Larson birdied the par 5 18th hole (594 yards) and parred the 16 other holes.

Nyberg was at 1-over par through 13 holes but then birdied the par 4 4th hole (407 yards), the par 4 5th hole (360 yards), and the par 4 7th hole (432 yards) to finish at 2-under par (70) and one spot behind Larson.

Scholl is tied for third with Willmar’s Evan Michelson and Brainerd’s Alex Imgrund. Scholl shot 1-under par (71) and had four birdies in his round.

Alexandria competes in day two of the Central Lakes Conference Championship at 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Detroit Lakes Country Club.

Minnewaska girls lead Section 3-2A Tournament by 50 strokes

The Minnewaska girls golf team is in a strong position after day one of the Section 3-2A Tournament, as it is sitting atop the team standings by 50 strokes.

Minnewaska had a round of 321 on Wednesday at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.

Minnewaska’s Annika and Arivia DeBoer are tied for first with rounds of 78 (6-over par). The DeBoers both had 12 pars in their rounds.

Fellow Minnewaska Laker Ava Kollman is in third after a round of 82 (10-over par), while Kyra Nelson is tied for fourth (83, 11-over par), and Anna Kollman is in sixth (84, 12-over par).

Day two of the Section 3-2A Tournament begins at 9 a.m. on May 28, 2025, at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake.
