— Holes-in-one are fairly rare in golf. But how about two, or three, for that matter?
The odds are pretty unlikely, but that’s what the Crosswoods men’s league in Crosslake saw during league play Thursday, Aug. 7.
League players Randy Johnson, Barney Moorman and Chris Kotval each got a hole-in-one, a first for all three players.
Johnson got the first hole-in-one of the day on Sunrise hole 4, followed by Moorman and then Kotval, both on Sunset hole 6.
“I just felt amazement,” Kotval said about getting the third and final hole-in-one.
With the messaging system built into the course’s golf carts, word was getting around the league during the round about the growing number of holes-in-one.
“It was getting around by the time I made the corner. My dad waited for me because he plays in the league, too. It was kind of neat,” Johnson said.
By the end of the round, there was an air of celebration surrounding the three aces.
“Everyone was thirsty,” Kotval said about the end of the round.
“It was kind of a party atmosphere. Everyone was having beers and kudos were going around. I mean, that’s really odd to have three (holes-in-one) in one league in one day,” Johnson said.
Crosswoods Golf Pro Tim Trott presented the three players with engraved hole-in-one mugs to commemorate the occasion.
