CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) Charlie Box, a junior on the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team, has repeated as the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, the conference announced today, Oct. 10. One week after earning his first league honor, Box was honored after winning medalist honors at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational, Oct. 6-7, in Estero, Fla.

Box (Leicester, England/Wreake Valley Academy/Hutchinson CC), continued his strong recent play as he tied for the title at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational at 15-under 201 before sinking a 20-foot birdie put to win the playoff and claim medalist honors in Florida. After opening with a first-round 71, Box went low in round two as he fired a school-record-tying 63 (-9) before ending the tournament with a 67. His 201 strokes rank as the second-lowest total in program history behind the 200 shot by Tyler Lewis (Feb. 25-26, 2018) while the win for Box – his first with Eastern and the seventh of his career after recording six with Hutchinson CC over the previous two seasons – stands as the first for an EMU player since Beau Breault won nearly eight years ago (Oct. 16-17, 2017). Overall, Box is averaging 69.9 strokes per round.

Box and the Eagles return to action for their final fall tournament when they travel to Hawaii to compete in the Pearl at Kalauoa Invitational, Nov. 5-6, at the Pearl at Kalauoa Course in O’aha, Hawaii.
