Illinois State men’s golf shines in Badger Invitational | Sports

MADISON, Wisc.Β β€” Illinois State men’s golf used a dominant final round to finish tied for second at 847 in the Badger Invitational on Tuesday at TPC Wisconsin.

ISU finished tied for second with Missouri Valley Conference rival SIU, six points behind Badger Invitational winner Southern Mississippi, which posted a three-round total of 841.

The Redbirds sat at 572 after two rounds, before posting a 279 in the third round to climb into the top three of the tournament.

TJ Barger and Sam Ottwell gave the Redbirds a boost, posting three-round scores of 208 and 212. Barger finished tied for fifth and Ottwell tied for seventh, his highest finish of the season.Β 

Max Faucquez and Pietro Pontiggia placed in the top 20 individaully, Faucquez tied for 14th with 215 points and Pontiggia scored 217 in a tie for 20th.Β 

The Redbirds finished in the top two at the Badger Invitational for the third time in five years.
