Men’s Golf Tied For Third After Two Rounds At Mountain West Championship

CRESWELL, Ore. (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV men’s golf used three individual under-par scorecards as part of a second-round 10-under 278 to move into a tie for third Saturday at the Mountain West Championship at Emerald Valley Golf Club (Par 72, 7,210 yards).

SATURDAY SCORECARD: Senior Caden Fioroni’s 5-under 67, junior Wyatt Plattner’s 4-under 68 and Zach Little’s 2-under 70 paved the way for the Rebels day-two jump from fourth place. Plattner’s six birdies led the trio’s combined 12 in the round, while Fioroni (hole 18) and Little (hole 3) added one eagle apiece.

REBEL ROUNDUP: Headlining the Scarlet & Gray leaderboard, Fioroni finds himself tied for fourth at 8-under through 36 holes. Following him in the lineup are Little (-5) in a tie for 13th, Plattner (-4) in a tie for 18th, junior Brett Sawaia (-1) in a tie for 29th and senior Trevor Lewis (+1) in a tie for 36th.

DAY-TWO LEADERS: A MW record second round saw San Diego State improve its tournament-leading score to 44-under and SDSU’s Justin Hastings take the individual lead at 15-under. On the day, SDSU’s 25-under 263 and Hastings’ 10-under 62 each set the conference event’s second-round records.
