GREENVILLE, N.C. – The NC State women’s golf team is set to play in its final stroke play tournament of the regular season, as the Wolfpack will play at the ECU Ironwood Invitational from Monday, March 31 to Tuesday, April 1. The tournament will take place at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club in Greenville, N.C., which is a 72-par, 6,481-yard course.
The tournament will feature 36 holes played on Monday followed by the final round on Tuesday. All players will have a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. on Monday. Sixteen different teams will play at this tournament, highlighted by two top 50 teams in the Pack and No. 49 Virginia Tech.
Marie Eline Madsen will play at the No. 1 spot in the Pack’s final regular season tournament. The freshman has finished in the top 20 in each of her eight tournament appearances, including six top 10 showings. She leads the team with a 71.13 scoring average with 13 rounds at par or better and eight rounds in the 60s. Madsen is coming off a tie for fifth with a 4-over 220 (73-74-73) at the City of Oaks Collegiate.
Vania Simont is in the No. 2 spot. She has played in all eight tournaments and is third on the team in scoring average with a 75.09 18-hole average with five rounds at par or better. She has two top 10 showings on the year, including a tie for ninth at the City of Oaks Collegiate last weekend with a 9-over 225 (77-72-76.)
Caitlin Whitehead will play next in the lineup this weekend, playing in her seventh tournament this season. Whitehead is logging a 76.76 scoring average with one round at par or better. She is coming off a tie for 48th with a 24-over 240 (85-77-78) at the City of Oaks Collegiate.
Jaclyn Kenzel is making her sixth tournament appearance this season. She is tallying a 77.93 scoring average with two rounds at par or better. Kenzel is coming off a tie for 66th with a 29-over 245 (85-78-81) at the City of Oaks Collegiate.
Lea Ludwig wraps up the lineup and will make her sixth tournament appearance of the season, fourth in the lineup. Ludwig is averaging a 76.73 scoring average. She is coming off a 20-over 236 (76-80-80) after playing as an individual at the City of Oaks Collegiate.
Leena Stephens is set to play as an individual for the Pack. She is coming off her first collegiate appearance last week at the City of Oaks Collegiate, logging a 21-over 237 (79-78-80) to tie for 35th.
NC State has locked up four top five finishes, as well as a win at the Daniel Island Invitational this season. The Pack is No. 41 in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd Ranking with a 74-39-1 record.
