UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Washington women’s golf team secured one tournament under its belt Tuesday as the Huskies closed out the Leadership & Golf Invitational.

The Dawgs ended the tournament 33-over par, good for an eighth place finish out of 16 teams at Chambers Bay Golf Course.

“I’m really proud of the grit the team showed today,” head coach Anna Temple said. “We got off to a rough start but the resiliency to finish strong will be good heading into our next event.”

In the final day of action, Mads Smith finished the day (her birthday, actually) with an even-par 72, firing off five birdies.

Amber Li and Wendy Tang each notched a 76, with Li adding three birdies and nine pars.

Carmen Lim, who finished the tournament with the highest mark for the Huskies in a tie for 24th, along with Athena Ni, both recorded 78s on the day.

Claudia Alnajim, who competed as an individual in her first tournament with UW, recorded a 77 as she and Ni tied for 66th on the player leaderboard.
